Plans revealed for £12m Viking world at theme park

Hampshire's Paultons Park unveils its largest development yet, spending £12 million on a new Viking-themed sector called Valgard, all set to open in the year 2026. The new sector will appeal to families with teenagers and older children, building on its record-breaking Peppa Pig World to appeal to a wider audience. Valgard will have two headliners: Drakon, the park's first inverting rollercoaster, and Vild Swing, a 39-foot-tall swing ride. The park's Cobra ride will be renamed Raven, an action-packed bobsled-themed ride. The land will also include a new themed high-capacity dining restaurant, a big play area for younger kids, and a water-based thrill ride coming in 2027. This follows relatively soon after the park welcomed Ghostly Manor, an indoor dark ride costing £3.5 million, once again echoing the ambition for growth of Paultons'. With a home at 140 acres of the New Forest, Paultons Park has been growing in popularity year by year while remaining family-owned and independent despite ongoing innovation. James Mancey, Deputy Managing Director of Paultons Park, was thrilled by the developments and spoke about how the new rides will continue to deliver quality experiences for first-time visitors and their repeat customers. The Viking-themed zone is going to be one of the park's highlights for thrill-seekers as well as families, and raise the profile of the park for cutting-edge rides.
